Fixing Mobile-Only Display Problems: Distorted Images, Missing Content, Keyboard Glitches, and Add to Cart Issues

Sometimes your store looks perfect on a desktop computer but behaves differently when a customer visits from a phone. This article covers four mobile-specific problems and how to address them. If you're dealing with menu icons, the mobile search bar, cut-off dropdown lists, or content sections that won't load on mobile, please see our companion article, Troubleshooting Common Mobile Display Issues on Your Store.

1. Images Appearing Stretched or Distorted on Mobile

What's happening: Product photos, logos, or other images may look squished, stretched, or blurry on a phone even though they look fine on a desktop. This usually happens when an image is being forced to scale to fit the smaller screen width, which distorts its original proportions.

What to check:

    • Open the affected page on your phone and note which image looks wrong.
    • Confirm whether the image is being displayed at a fixed width or height that doesn't match the phone's screen.
    • Where possible, allow images to scale proportionally rather than being locked to a set size.
Tip: Uploading images at their correct aspect ratio (the right width-to-height ratio) helps prevent stretching across all screen sizes.

If the distortion persists after checking your image settings, contact our support team with the page URL and a screenshot from your phone so we can investigate.

2. Banners or Content Sections That Show on Desktop but Are Missing on Mobile

What's happening: A banner, promotional block, or specific content section may appear correctly on desktop but be completely absent when the same page loads on a phone.

What to check:

    • Compare the page side by side on desktop and mobile to confirm exactly which section is missing.
    • Check whether the missing section has any visibility settings that could be hiding it on smaller screens.
    • Review how the section is placed on the page, since some layouts render differently on narrow mobile widths.
If a section that should appear on all devices is missing only on mobile, reach out to support with the page URL and a note describing what should appear and where. Our team can review the page and restore the content to display correctly on mobile.

3. Keyboard Glitches When Tapping Input Fields (iOS Safari)

What's happening: On some mobile browsers—particularly Safari on iPhones—tapping a search box or other input field can cause display glitches. This may look like the keyboard disappearing unexpectedly, or a blank white area of empty space appearing on the screen.

What to know:

    • This behavior is related to how mobile Safari handles on-screen keyboards with certain fixed-position page elements.
    • In some cases the issue can be intermittent and may clear up on its own.
What to try:
    • Fully close and reopen your mobile browser, then revisit the page.
    • Clear your browser cache, as outdated stored styles can sometimes cause display quirks.
    • Test the same field on a different device or browser to see whether the problem is specific to iOS Safari.
If the glitch continues, contact support with details about the device, browser, and the page where it occurs so we can review it.

4. Add to Cart Button Disabled or Unresponsive on Mobile

What's happening: The Add to Cart button works normally on desktop but appears disabled or does nothing when tapped on an Android phone or iPhone.

What to check:

    • Confirm that all required product options (such as size, color, or year) are selected. A missing selection can keep the button disabled.
    • Verify that any option menus display fully on mobile, since an option that's cut off may prevent a required choice from being made.
    • Clear your browser cache and try again, in case outdated page files are affecting the button.
If the button remains unresponsive on mobile after confirming all product options are selected, please contact support with the product page URL and the device you're using.
