Making Changes to Your Homepage: A Guide to Common Edits

Your homepage is often the first thing customers see, so keeping it accurate and up to date is important. This guide covers the most common types of homepage changes store owners ask about and points you in the right direction for each.

Note: Many homepage elements—especially text, styling, layout, and integration changes—are handled as a design request by WSM Support. If you're unsure how something should be changed, reach out to WSM Support and we can make the change for you or provide guidance.

Common Homepage Edits

Updating Text on the Homepage

If you need to fix or change wording in a text block on your homepage (for example, correcting a headline or adding a punctuation mark), this is a styling/design change handled by WSM Support. Submit a design change request and specify:

    • The exact text currently shown
    • The new text you'd like in its place

Updating the Featured Products Slider

The content shown in a homepage Featured Products slider is managed as homepage content. If you need to update the products or information displayed there and can't locate the source, submit a request identifying the slider so it can be located and updated for you.

Removing or Hiding a Homepage Link or Heading

If you'd like to remove or hide a navigation link or heading (for example, a dealer locator link or a "Catalog" item under "Customer Care"), submit a request to WSM Support. Let us know:

    • The exact link or heading text
    • Where it appears on the page (for example, "top right of page")

Hiding or Disabling the Year/Make/Model (YMM) Lookup

If the Year/Make/Model vehicle lookup doesn't fit your current needs, it can be hidden or disabled rather than deleted.

Warning: Hiding the YMM is different from deleting it. To preserve your data, request that the YMM be hidden/disabled (not deleted). It may need to be hidden in more than one place—for example, on the homepage, on category pages, and in search results—so let us know if you want it hidden site-wide.

Showing the Vehicle Lookup on More Pages

If your vehicle lookup only appears on the homepage and you'd like it on product or category pages too, this is a styling/design change. Submit a request describing where you'd like the lookup to appear, and include example page links if possible.

Requests Involving Compliance or Integrations

Some homepage additions relate to third-party services and may require extra steps:

    • Lending/financing disclosures (for example, an Affirm "Lending Disclosure") that must appear on the homepage are handled as integration requests. Provide the exact disclosure text or requirements from your provider.
    • Adding a CAPTCHA to your email signup form (often located in the footer) to reduce bot signups is handled as a request by WSM Support. Let us know that you'd like a CAPTCHA added to your email signup form and where it appears.
Tips for a Faster Turnaround

When submitting a homepage request, including these details helps us complete it quickly:

    • Your store URL and the specific page URL
    • The exact element you want changed (text, link, image, or section)
    • What you want changed to (new text, new image attached, hide vs. remove)
    • Where the element appears on the page
