Pausing, Closing, or Reactivating Your Store (and Setting Your Store Hours & Timezone)

This article explains two common account questions for WSM store owners: how to temporarily pause or permanently close your store (and reactivate it later), and where to find your store's displayed hours and timezone setting.

Part 1: Pausing vs. Permanently Closing Your Store

There are times when you may want to stop your store from operating — either for a while or for good. WSM supports both options, but they are handled differently.

Temporarily Pausing Your Store ("On Hold")

You might want to put your store on hold if you are:

    • Migrating to a different platform
    • Experiencing a temporary business slowdown
    • Closing briefly for a holiday, seasonal break, or other short-term reason

Putting a store on hold keeps your account and data intact so you can pick up where you left off when you're ready to reopen.

Permanently Closing (Deactivating) Your Store

If you have decided to shut your store down for good, you can request permanent deactivation. This is a more significant step, so please be sure this is what you want before requesting it.

How to Request a Pause or Closure

Pausing or closing a store is not a self-service toggle in your admin. Because these actions can affect your billing, they are handled directly by our support team.

To request either option:

    • Contact WSM support.
    • Let us know whether you want to temporarily pause (place on hold) or permanently close (deactivate) your store.
    • If pausing, tell us your intended timeframe if you have one.

Our team will confirm the details with you before making any changes.

Reactivating a Store Later

If your store has been paused or deactivated and you'd like it running again, simply contact WSM support to request reactivation. We'll walk you through the steps to get your store back online.

Important: Because pausing, closing, and reactivating can have billing implications, please always go through WSM support for these requests. This helps ensure your account and billing are handled correctly and avoids any surprises.

Part 2: Finding and Changing Your Store's Hours or Timezone

Many merchants have trouble locating where store hours and timezone information are managed. These settings live in your store's configuration area of the admin.

To update your store's timezone and related settings:

    • Log in to your WSM admin.
    • Go to your store Configuration settings.
    • Locate the store settings section where regional details (such as your default country and related store information) are managed.
    • Update the values as needed and save your changes.

If you cannot locate the correct setting or need help updating your displayed hours or timezone, contact WSM support and we'll point you to the exact spot for your store.

Note: The exact layout of the configuration area can vary slightly depending on your store setup. If anything looks different from what's described here, reach out to support for guidance.
