Setting Up and Managing Shipping Carriers in Your WSM Store

This guide explains how shipping carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and USPS work in your Web Shop Manager (WSM) store, how to enable them, and how to resolve the most common setup issues.

Enabling a Shipping Carrier

Shipping carrier options are managed in your store's admin area under the shipping configuration settings.

  1. Log in to your WSM admin.
  2. Go to Configuration → Shipping.
  3. Locate the carrier you want to add (for example, USPS, UPS, or FedEx).
  4. Enable the carrier and select the shipping service options you want to offer.
  5. Save your changes.

You can label the shipping options however you like so they display clearly to your customers at checkout.

Tip: After enabling a carrier, place a test order to confirm that rates appear correctly at checkout.

USPS Setup Notes

Some USPS options are currently marked as a beta feature. If you try to enable one of these and see a message asking you to contact WSM, please open a support ticket and our team can assist you.

If you previously disabled USPS and want to reinstate it, you can re-enable the available options and choose which services to keep.

UPS Setup Notes

Adding UPS as a Carrier

To connect UPS in your WSM store, you'll need your UPS account information on hand—including your UPS access license/API key and any negotiated rate details. Then:

  1. Log in to your WSM admin.
  2. Go to Configuration → Shipping.
  3. Locate UPS in the list of carriers.
  4. Enter your UPS credentials (such as your access license/API key) and any negotiated rate details.
  5. Select the UPS service options you want to offer at checkout.
  6. Save your changes, then place a test order to confirm rates appear correctly.

If you have any trouble entering or connecting your UPS account, contact support for assistance.

UPS Token Expiration

UPS connections use an authorization token that can expire, which may temporarily prevent UPS rates from appearing at checkout. If your customers are unable to select UPS as a shipping option, this may be the cause. Contact support so we can help restore the connection and answer questions about token behavior.

High UPS Rates

Some store owners have found UPS rates coming through higher than expected—often due to charges such as residential surcharges being applied. If your rates look unusually high, review your UPS account settings and negotiated rate terms directly with UPS. As an alternative, you can enable another carrier (such as USPS) to offer customers additional options.

Multiple UPS Accounts

Using two different UPS accounts—each with its own separately negotiated rates—at the same time is not something the current system is designed to support. If you have a use case like this, please contact support to discuss your options.

Feature Requests Under Review

Some carrier-related capabilities are being evaluated or planned for future WSM releases, including:

  • Broader FedEx migration and configuration improvements.
  • Allowing your logged-in dealers to bill shipping to their own UPS/FedEx account numbers rather than yours.

If either of these is important to your business, let our support team know so we can note your interest.

Getting Help

Always submit shipping and carrier questions through an official channel:

Important: Do not send support requests to automated system inbox addresses, as those are not actively monitored and your message may go unanswered.
