What is the Technology License Dashboard?
The Technology License Dashboard is a new summary and details interface in the Web Shop Manager (WSM) admin which provides insight into your Technology License usage items. At this time, this new interface covers the following items: Sessions, Bandwidth, Products, and Hours.
In the future, additional functionality will be added to this dashboard to better help manage and understand your website.
What Technology License Dashboard features are implemented in WSM?
- Summary
- This is an overview of your sites current usage and how it compares to your Service Level Agreement limits
- Sessions
- The current Sessions count used by your site.
- A Session is a connection to WSM that a customer makes when visiting your site. A customer can visit as many pages as they want and it is only counted as a single session.
- A customer Session expires after 24 hours of not being used and is tracked using a cookie on the front-end of your site.
- For example, if a customer browses your site from 8-8:30am and then comes back to your site at 3pm on that same device (e.g. computer), a new Session will not be created.
- Since WSM expires Sessions after 24 hours, your Session count may not match other methods of collecting Sessions (e.g. Google currently expires sessions in differently, https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2731565?hl=en).
- A Session will also be created by 3rd party integrations and API requests coming into WSM. Since these methods of connections to WSM do not use cookies, each request will be counted as a unique single Session.
- For example, If you use the Remote Product Update functionality and a customer visits a page with 10 products which require a Remote Product Update, 10 Sessions will be counted (not including the initial customer session when they started browsing the site).
- Bandwidth
- The current Bandwidth (incoming and outgoing) usage in Gigabytes (GB).
- Bandwidth is the amount of data that flows in and out of WSM.
- For example, when a customer visits a page, their browser will send "in" small amounts of data on buttons they pressed, selections they made, etc...
- WSM will then send data "out" in response to the customer input. This could be to update pages, go to a new page, update images, return search results, etc..
- Bandwidth is used on every page view or for any data being passed through your website Domain/URL.
- Bandwidth is also tracked for 3rd party integrations and API requests/responses going through your website Domain/URL.
- Product Count
- The current active Product Count maintained in the WSM database. Active are all products not set as hidden, To be Deleted, or Not for Sale.
- Hours
- Collection of hours WSM has used working on projects, task, or training for your site as requested from your Service Desk tickets.
- Depending on your current Technology license, you will see different line item titles.
How does it work?
The Technology License Dashboard collects information about your site and summarizes the data in a concise and easy to read interface.
You can find your Technology License dashboard in the WSM admin interface under the Dashboard menu item and clicking on the Tech License sub-menu item.
Summary
The Summary tab is the default landing page when viewing the Tech License Dashboard.
Actual MTD (Month to Date):
This column is your Month to date summary. This information is collected once a day (early morning) and collects information for the previous day. So any changes made today, won't be seen until tomorrow's collection.
When a value in this column is colored GREEN, it signifies that your site is below your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) and is not expected to exceed your limits at the end of the month.
When a value in this column is colored ORANGE, it signifies that your site is tracking to go over your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) by the end of the month and overages may occur.
When a value in this column is colored RED, it signifies that your site is already over your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) and overages may occur.
Projected:
This column is your Projected usage for the month based on your current usage for the month.
Plan:
This column displays the usage allowed by your Technology License (formerly known as SLA).
Sessions
This menu item displays a chart of your daily and monthly Session usage.
Bandwidth
This menu item displays a chart for your daily and monthly Bandwidth usage.
Products
This menu displays the current counts of your Active Products, Not for Sale Products, Products Attribute assignments, Categories, and Brands.
Currently, the only information on this page which is tied to your Technology License (formerly known as SLA) is Product Count and Product Attribute assignments.
These two fields will be colored as follows:
When a value in this column is colored GREEN, it signifies that your site is below your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) and is not expected to exceed your limits at the end of the month.
When a value in this column is colored ORANGE, it signifies that your site is tracking to go over your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) by the end of the month and overages may occur.
When a value in this column is colored RED, it signifies that your site is already over your current Technology License (formerly known as SLA) and overages may occur.
Hours
This menu displays information about the hours associated with your website based on your plan.
You will also see a Monthly summary of the hour used for your site. Depending on your current plan you may see different labels for the hours used.
To get a detailed list of how the hours were used, you can click on either the "Used hours by year" link in the Hours summary table, or you can click on any of the hour links inside the "Used Hours (by month)" table.
What can be configured?
