Setting Up and Verifying Analytics & Tracking on Your WSM Store
Tracking how visitors use your store is essential for smart marketing decisions. This guide explains how analytics and tracking integrations work on Web Shop Manager (WSM), how to get your setup verified, and what to do when data isn't showing up as expected.
Overview
WSM supports several common analytics and tracking tools, including:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — measure traffic, purchases, and visitor behavior
- Marketing pixels (such as ad-platform pixels) added to product or other pages
- Conversion tracking for advertising platforms (e.g., Microsoft Ads)
- E‑commerce tracking for events like purchases
If you want to connect Google Analytics to your store, please open a support ticket and WSM support will set up the Google Analytics 4 Tag integration on your store's admin.
Note: After the tag is enabled, it can take some time before data begins appearing in your Google Analytics dashboard. It's normal to see little or no reporting immediately, so allow a few days before assuming something is wrong.
Tip: If you're unsure which analytics is active on your store, contact WSM support and we can confirm your setup. Keep in mind that a store can have more than one analytics ID configured across different WSM accounts, so it's worth confirming which one is in use.
Verifying That Analytics Is ConnectedIf you're unsure whether analytics is connected correctly, contact WSM support and we can review your configuration for you. Remember that reporting is not instant — allow some time for data to begin populating before assuming there's a problem.
Adding a Marketing Pixel to Your PagesIf you'd like to add an advertising or tracking pixel to specific pages (such as product pages), WSM can assist with correct placement. When you request this, please include:
- The exact pixel or tracking code snippet
- The page or page type where it should appear (for example, product pages)
Conversion tracking (such as a Purchase conversion for an ad platform) can occasionally stop working after platform changes. If your conversion tracking is no longer firing:
- Gather the current conversion/tracking script provided by your advertising platform.
- Include any installation instructions from that platform.
- Submit these to WSM support so the correct method can be applied to your checkout.
Some campaigns rely on detailed e‑commerce events beyond a simple purchase — for example, Add to Cart and other funnel steps. If purchases are tracking correctly but other funnel events aren't appearing in your analytics, WSM can review which events are being sent so the tracking you need can be evaluated.
When reporting this, let us know exactly which events are and are not showing up so we can investigate efficiently.
Related Topics You May See in AnalyticsSome issues that show up in analytics reports are actually about site performance rather than tracking itself:
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) warnings relate to how quickly page content loads. If your analytics reports flag LCP issues, these fall under website performance and can be reviewed by WSM support.
- Third-party tool requirements (such as verification prompts from analytics or session-recording tools) can also be checked against your current site setup — just send us a screenshot of the requirement.
If you've updated pricing or other catalog details and the changes aren't yet reflected on search results or category pages, you can request a site index from WSM support. Indexing refreshes your store so recent changes appear correctly.
Getting HelpFor any analytics or tracking setup, verification, or troubleshooting, contact WSM support and include:
- Your store URL
- The relevant IDs, pixels, or scripts
- A description of what you expect to happen versus what you're seeing
