Troubleshooting Product Listing Problems: SKUs, Pricing, and Fitment
If your products aren't behaving the way you expect—duplicate import errors, prices that don't match between listings, dealer pricing that won't display, or items disappearing from search results—this guide walks you through the most common causes and how to fix them.
---
1. Duplicate Stock ID / SKU Errors During Import or Product Upload
Every product in your catalog needs a unique Stock ID (SKU). When you import products through a CSV file or add them manually, an error can occur if two products share the same Stock ID.
What you may see:
- An import fails or reports a "duplicate" error.
- A part number appears twice on a product page or in your catalog.
What to check:
- Open your import file (CSV) and sort by the Stock ID / SKU column.
- Look for any repeated values and make each one unique before re-importing.
- If a part number is showing twice on a live product page even though your file looks correct, this may be a display or data-level issue.
---
2. Prices or Inventory Don't Match Between the Listing and the Product Page, or Won't Update
Occasionally the price shown on a catalog or category listing won't match the price shown on the individual product detail page. Separately, a price or inventory change you've saved sometimes won't seem to "take" on the live site.
What to check:
- Confirm the price and inventory values are saved correctly on the product record in your admin.
- Compare the price shown on the catalog/category listing with the price shown on the product detail page to identify where the mismatch appears.
- Re-save the product after making changes to ensure updates are pushed live.
---
3. Dealer or Tiered Pricing Not Displaying Correctly
If you offer dealer, wholesale, or tiered pricing, those special prices should appear for the correct customers on product pages.
What to check:
- Verify the tiered or dealer pricing is entered on the product record.
- Confirm the customer is logged into an account assigned to the correct pricing group or dealer tier—special pricing often only displays for qualifying accounts.
- Test by viewing the page while signed in as an eligible customer.
Displaying Your Stock # Instead of the Supplier/Dealer #
Some stores want to show their own Stock Number to shoppers rather than the supplier or dealer part number. This is a configuration preference in your catalog settings.
When to contact support: If you'd like to change which identifier is shown publicly (for example, showing your Stock # instead of the Dealer/Supplier #), or if dealer pricing still isn't appearing for eligible customers, contact WSM Support and we can help configure it.

4. Products Dropping Out of Search or Category Results (YMM / Fitment Issues)
For automotive and powersports stores, products are often tied to Year/Make/Model (YMM) fitment data. If that fitment or attribute data is missing or incorrect, products can disappear from filtered search and category results.
What you may see:
- Applications (fitments) not showing on a product page.
- Products missing when a customer filters by vehicle.
- Items no longer appearing under the category you expect.
What to check:
- Open the affected product and review its Fitment & Attributes data.
- Confirm the correct Year, Make, and Model values are assigned.
- Make sure any brand or catalog data feeding the product is still current—if a supplier removes a brand from their catalog, related products may need to be updated or removed.
